Description:
The “J.R.Tolkien” is combining the best of two worlds.
She has got the elegance of a yacht and the boldness of a tall ship.
We are selling our charter company with 2 sailing ships: “ J.R.Tolkien” and “Loth Lorien”, or each on her own.
The ships are based in Hamburg, classed in the Netherlands and sailing in Northern Europe.
In the winter season they are staying in Hamburg and offering bed and breakfast.
The ship is still under class.
The “J.R.Tolkien” was built in Eastern Germany 1965 as an icebreaking tug named “Dierkow” by Edgar Andre wharf in Magdeburg. The Dierkow worked for the Bagger-, Bugsier- und Bergungsreederei Rostock.
She was strip to the bone and refitted in 1998 as the topsail Schooner J.R. Tolkien.
Now she’s working as a sail charter vessel in Northern Europe and is one of the most eye catching classics in her kind. She’s licensed for sailing trips worldwide up to 36 guests and 8 crew members. Day trips are possible for up to 90 guests and 10 crew members.
